Nothing Uncomplicated Really Is

“Least Complicated”

I sit two stories above the street
It’s awful quiet here since love fell asleep
There’s life down below me though the kids are walking home from school

So long ago when we were taught
That for whatever kind of puzzle you got
You just stick the right formula in a solution for every fool

I remember the time when I came so close to you
Sent me skipping my class and running from school
And I bought you that ring cause I never was cool

What makes me think I can start clean-slated?
The hardest to learn was the least complicated

So I just sit up in the house and resist
And not be seen until I cease to exist
A kind of conscientious objection a kind of dodging the draft

Boy and girl are holding hands in the street
And I don’t want to but I’ll think you just wait
It’s more than just eye to eye learn things I could never apply

I remember the time I came so close with you
I let everything go it seemed the only truth
And I bought you that ring it seemed the thing to do

What makes me think I can start clean-slated?
The hardest to learn was the least complicated
What makes me think I can start clean-slated?
The hardest to learn was the least complicated

Oh I’m just a mirror of a mirror of myself
All the things I do
And the next time I fall I’m going to have to recall
It isn’t love it’s only something new

I sit two stories above the street
It’s awful quiet here since love fell asleep
There’s life down below me though the kids are walking home from school

I remember the time I came so close to you
Sent me skipping my class and running from school
And I bought you that ring cause I never was cool

What makes me think I can start clean-slated?
The hardest to learn was the least complicated
What makes me think I can start clean-slated?
The hardest to learn was the least complicated

Na na na na na na na (least complicated)
Na na na na na na na (least complicated)
Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na

Come On Get Higher – Matt Natherson

YouTube Preview Image

Come On Get Higher

I miss the sound of your voice
And I miss the rush of your skin
And I miss the still of the silence
As you breathe out and I breathe in

If I could walk on water
If I could tell you what’s next
I’d make you believe
I’d make you forget

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love

I miss the sound of your voice
Loudest thing in my head
And I ache to remember
All the violent, sweet
Perfect words that you said

If I could walk on water
If I could tell you what’s next
I’d make you believe
I’d make you forget

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love

I feel of your heart
I taste the sparks on your tongue
I see angels and devils
And God, when you come on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Sing sha la la la
Sing sha la la la la

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me, drown me in love

It’s all wrong, it’s all wrong
It’s all wrong, it’s so right
So come on, get higher
So come on and get higher
‘Cause everything works, love
Everything works when you’re on

Life Less Ordinary – Carbon Leaf

YouTube Preview Image

“Life Less Ordinary”

Live a life less ordinary
Live a life extraordinary with me
Live a life less sedentary
Live a life evolutionary with me
Well I hate to be a bother,
But it’s you and there’s no other, I do believe
You can call me naive but…
I know me very well (at least as far as I can tell)
And I know what I need

The night you came into my life
Well it took the bones of me, took the bones of me
You blew away my storm and strife
And shook the bones of me, shook the bones of me
By the way, I do know why you stayed away…
I will keep tongue-tied next time

Live a life less ordinary
Live a life extraordinary with me
My face had said too much
Before our hands could even touch
To greet a ‘hello’
(So much for going slow…)
A little later on that year
I told you that I loved you dear
What do you know?
This you weren’t prepared to hear
I’m a saddened man, I’m a broken boy
I’m a toddler with a complex toy
I’ve fallen apart, since the ambush of your heart

The night you came into my life
Well it took the bones of me, took the bones of me
You blew away my storm and strife
And shook the bones of me, shook the bones of me.
By the way, I do know why you stayed away
I will keep tongue-tied but…

Honey understand, honey understand
I won’t make demands
Honey understand, honey understand
We could walk without a plan.
Honey understand (honey), honey understand
I won’t rest in stone all alone
Honey understand, honey understand
I’m all ready to go
But you already know…

Live a life less ordinary
Live a life extraordinary with me.
If I could name you in this song
Would it make you smile and sing along?
This is the goal: to get into your soul
If I could make you dance for joy
Could that be the second-chance decoy?
The bird-in-hand I would need
To help you understand?

The night you came into my life
well it took the bones of me, took the bones of me
You blew away my storm and strife
And shook the bones of me, shook the bones of me
By the way, I do know why you stayed away
I will keep tongue-tied next time

Lyrics That Speak to Me (Somebody)

This is an old post by someone else and I have not seen it online in forever.  I thought I would repost it and if anyone knows who the original poster is let me know so I can give credit.  It is because of this post I found Melissa Ferrick and became a lover of the angry lesbian music.  I do personally think she is angry but that is what my friends call it.  I have extended the post a bit by linking to the artists websites as well as the song on Last.fm, which I am sure was not even an idea in their creators minds when I first read this list.  From this list I would think the somebody really like Peter Mulvey.

Still The Best Song Ever

Still the best song I have ever heard. It is so simple and the longing sound of it are fitting the words behind it. These words express that longing of love at first sight or as a friend of mine put it recently “kisma”. You can almost see the fate written in the foreheads of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová in the video.

Falling Slowly

I don’t know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can’t react
And games that never amount
To more than they’re meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You’ll make it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I’m painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It’s time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You’ve made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I’ll sing along

Kingdom Of Heaven

httpvhd://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6thSTnmiDJA&

“The Kingdom Of Heaven”

A suffering soul on the way to the Kingdom of Heaven
Held up a sign that says “God hates America”
A child has been lost
A mother is shocked and is grieving
And turning away, turning away

He said there is a love that is so hideous and destructive
We must drive it from Earth to save all of our children
He must know it well
In the night it’s the hell that he speaks of
It keeps him awake, keeps him awake

My God is love
My God is peace
My God loves you
My God loves me

A suffering soul on the way to the Kingdom of Heaven
Prayed in the dark, “Death to the infidel”
He strapped all his desperate pain and his faith to his body
And blew them away, blew them away

A suffering soul on the way to the Kingdom of Heaven
Shouts on the news, “They are the godless ones”
The anger inside and the fear that it hides
never leave her
When the cameras are gone, when the cameras move on

Oh, people, c’mon? tell me where is your Kingdom of Heaven?
Where is your faith?
Where do you put your fear?
Do you have a price for truth and a price for believing?
And heaven is here, heaven is here

My God is love
My God is peace
My God is you
And my God is me

Best Black Dress

httpvhd://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwE2d86zEfc

Best Black Dress

Mr. George Fox requests the pleasure of my company
By pointed envelope marked “Special Delivery”
And I know what this means, most certainly
This means tonight Mr. George Fox will take me to Club Century

In my best black dress
In my best black shoes
Why should I refuse?

Most days are not like this, you understand
Oh no, most days find me taking ideas in shorthand
In a room alone with changing wedding bands
Mr. George Fox, I’ve got better things planned

In my best black dress
In my best black shoes
What have I got to lose?

He says, “That’s what’s wrong with this generation
You’re supposed to be making something new
But it’s so much more fun to play in your parents’ historyland”

Speaking of which
Mr. George Fox has a daughter just my age
I’ve seen her once or twice at the other end of his estate
She has long purple skirts and an old mutt she got in college
I wonder if she’s seen me creeping home at night through the foliage
Has she seen me?

In my best black dress
In my best black shoes
Would she be confused?
