Starting — Amy Butler — Weekender Travel Bag

Amy Butler - Weekender Travel Bag Amy Butler - Weekender Travel Bag Amy Butler - Weekender Travel Bag

The blogosphere has been all a buzz about Amy Butler’s Weekend Travel Bag. What’s a girl to do except for to take notice. With a trip to Arizona looming on the horizon, I though I would get on the bandwagon. I strongly suggest you read the notes of those who have gone before, it will help, and you won’t be sorry.

This honey of a sling holds everything and it’s easy to make! Modern styling and dynamic proportions will make this one of your favorite carry-all bags! They come out so soft and large enough to carry almost anything but position well so they don’t seem to large.  I am sure I will do another run soon.

Elegant and fashionable purse design at home in the penthouse or on the pavement! An updated take on 40′s style.  I made the mistake of cutting these all out and placing the peltex before I actually did the prototype bag.  Peltex is actually to thick and maybe craft bond would be better when it come to the manipulating the bag through the sewing machine.

Amy Butler just has the best patterns but sometimes they get to think to rangle through a sewing machine all the canvas and peltex gives me a little headache Oh but this cheap frog material is after my heart.

Accuquilt has a new toy the GO! Fabric Cutter.  What an amazing little thing and if you want to make rag quilts there is no better way.  I use the GO! Square-6 1/2″ for the batting and the GO! Rag Square-8 1/2″ to make the blocks. On the frog quilt I went all out and embroidered a frog on each block.  On the other quilt I went with the traditional X quilting.

Amy Butler – Madison Bag

Amy Butler - Madison Bag - 060509 Amy Butler - Madison Bag - 060509 Amy Butler - Madison Bag - 060509 Amy Butler - Madison Bag - 060509 IMG_0027 IMG_0028

My Prototype – In general this is any easy purse from a piecing standpoint. Oh but the assembly is a real pain in the you know what!!! I made the mistake of putting a way to thick peltex. I might suggest that you might want to go with 2 layers of craft bond maybe even one. I am still struggling with the strap placement as they are almost unsewable. Alas I made the mistake of cutting the run before I did the prototype :( . Oh yes I use a metal snap and added a pocket.
