Thinking About Presidents… and russians…
By jumapili on Jul 8, 2009 in politics
I am going to add to this post because it has been pointed out to me that I was offensive. However, I am going to leave the original words to take full responsibility for writing them.
We all know the stories of arrogant and obnoxious Americans who don’t know how to behave. Possibly I fell into this category when I wrote this post. First of let me point out some of the good things about my visit to russia. My host drove me from moscow to Tomsk it is quit a distance well over 2000 miles and 3 days. I saw some amazing things and nice snowy countryside. I am absolutely a borsch lover. Also many of the people I met personally were very very nice to me. But I have traveled to many places in this world and generally I got the impression that russia was cold, and I don’t mean that just in a temperature kind of way.
I want to point out that America has issues I know it very well. The video below points it out I think in a funny kind of way. We are “BROKE”! The mighty eagle has been showing her worst face for quit a few years. Running around the planet acting like a drunken sailor interfering everywhere we should not (the middle east). BUSH was flat out an ass and yes we are responsible for him we elected him after all (and yes I do believe our elections are pretty legitimate).
I feel Obama has been appropriately consolatory as he has gone around the world. There has been a lot of lamenting here that he has been to consolatory and I say not. America can do well by learning to be more humble especially since we have run so far amuck.
I think in general we should all as members of the world community learn to get along and be nice to one another. We should put old arguments aside (the cold war specifically in case). But from where I sit it did appear that Putin is not ready to go there and that is just sad. Not so much for America but for Russia. Because in general both countries should not be focused on missiles and arms control. We should be focused on building schools, roads and feeding the hungry, in general bring up the quality of the world by good things.
--ORIGINAL POST BELOW--
Today I am thinking about Presidents because Obama was treated so badly in Russia. I get it having worked with Russians for many years now. God they hardly get anything at all and hence why they live in a shit hole (I spent 2 months there last year). For those of you who have never been so fortunate and I say that sarcastically, to have ever gone to Russia it just plain sucks in general. Get this they still have no real road systems, the buildings really are that old and dirty, the woman don’t want to have babies (I suspect that is because the men treat their woman so bad) and they still have toilets that are holes in the ground. Let us not forget they are as broke as us and their men do everything they can to not go into the army. So thank “your” god everyday that we finally have a President who can think. Hopefully he will not hold their rudeness against them after all it seems through out history they never could help themselves. On top of that we are so over it when will they be?
Anyway Putin and Medvedev can’t compare to Obama haven’t they seen the JIB JAB video?

That was just plain offensive and kinda illogical – the places where women treated badly indeed, are usualy populated pretty well – cause their opinion does not matter.

Anton,
I can see how you might feel about that and I do appreciate your comment. I want to point out that if I am right you have left and gone to Spain. On top of that I will admit that when I met you were a wonderful person and I can see that you relationship is strong with your wife. So my comments were not met to be specific but my general impression and I will modify the post to reflect that. I am sorry I offended you personally because I know you personally and know that you do not reflect this generalization at all. Thank you for pointing out I was being a bit hard.

hey, one of the founders of our company is from US and he moved here to Barcelona from NY and I never been there unfortunately – but I guess the city is great
I understand that you could have pretty depressing experience about Russia and I would never say that there is no problems and I find Russian policy to be really stupid. But you need to take into consideration that the country was a military and than a bureaucratic dictatorship for the most of past century, and Siberia in particular was populated mainly during those times, so yes the buildings are ugly and the roads are bad there, but I would not say that people are so different here.
But, yes, all in all, I like it here more
